then we should feed our jewelry to the sea

The bus system is efficient. Sometimes it's too efficient. I have ran to bus stops multiple times and not even making it just when the doors were about to close on me. Oh well. Standing at bus stops is just as interesting though. Sometimes I think that I should just buy a bicycle just so I can save time and bus fares but I have this issue with turning and the possibility of falling whenever I turn.

There's this thing with random people asking me what time it is, and I always attempt to respond in a british timely-manner. For example, 'half past 7', 'quarter to 9' and 'twenty past 11'. And I always mess it up because I have to think about what I'm saying rather than just saying it's 7:30, 8:45 or 11:20. I mean come on!

Anyone have any plans during the royal wedding? I'll probably just video stream or I'll find some street party where I can crash in. Hmmmm.

so tired of the straight line

fortnight = a period of 14 consecutive days and nights or 336 hours of absolute awesomeness or pure hardwork, depends on how I spend my time really, as school comes to a close starting this Monday.

I have no idea why they do this at all, someone just told me that schools here just have loads of holidays (and they don't even have Saturday classes!). People who benefit this sort of education system have it made. The exams here are not even the types that I'm used to such as the multiple choice, matching type, identification, fill in the blanks and all that jazz. They have something that challenges my higher intellectual being...essays! I like reading and I like blogging and just when I thought it would be a breeze for me to tap into my non-percolating noggin to produce a thousand-word essay, it's not at all.

Here's to me finishing an essay before I actually spend my fortnight.

go ask the dust for any answers

I've been googling for music festivals in the UK and holy heck are they expensive but the line-ups are really good. There's T in the Park, Oxegen, Leeds and Reading festivals. Can I possibly cross out at least one of these? Here's to hoping. :)

you're so indie rock, it's almost an art

Bus rides are fun. It's the second best place to people-watch. There's the group of school boys who'll throw balls of newspaper everywhere; the people whose earphones/heapdhones are so loud that I can hear what they're listening to; the always-on-the-phone good looking girl; the guys with the bieber hair and low-drooping pants; the big spender with their shopping bags and the most obvious... the person who observes them all in the most non-creepy way possible *wink

under the heat of the northwest sun

Don't mind my bag full of muffins and donuts. We needed some sugar-y kick and that just did it.
I go weak for anything custard.

Funny how it was Comic Relief yesterday and how we gladly put on the red nose just to commemorate the day but at night we counteracted the funnies by watching the Thai movie, Coming Soon. Then un-counteracted it by watching Jackass 3D.  From screaming to flinching to almost barfing. What a day.

the other side

At first I thought she talked too much; but now I should be sorry to have that voice fall silent and pass out of my life. Blessed be the chestnut that brought us near together and taught me to know the goodness of her heart and the sweetness of her spirit! - Extract from Adam's Diary by Mark Twain

This morning I told him my name, hoping it would interest him. But he did not care for it. It is strange. If he should tell me his name, I would care. I think it would be pleasanter in my ears than any other sound. - Eve's Diary by Mark Twain

set fire to the rain

There was neither fire nor rain but there sure is a lot of wind and sunshine which kind of balances each other out. I used to always carry an umbrella with me all the time but now I always bring around gloves because my hands easily tingle and then go numb which has happened countless of times. Frostbites are the trend here (kidding.)

Moving on, I am watching way too much How I Met Your Mother lately which is a good thing because the laughing has been good for my abdominal muscles. I might have infected some of the humor to my roommate 'coz now she's watching the show with me which she has never seen until now. There's nothing like that awesome feeling when you share some laughs over Barney Stinson How I Met Your Mother.

paper doll

I just had the strangest sort of tea and now my stomach is acting up. Let me explain to you why this is so...we just had coffee (well, in my case tea) and cake with the Head of International Zone which went great. The cakes were delish and whatever foreign substances they had on that tea (plus milk), is now making me queasy.

PS. That is not my kiss mark. That happened to be there when I went back in the meeting pod. Haha

tendency to be free

It was a miracle that the sun was out and about today but the heat didn't pierce all the way through. What a shame. I thought I could warm up by going outside but the wind was overpowering. It simply adores playing with people's hair all the time, it's just crazy.

Funny how I go to grocery stores and I spot the same product back in the Philippines but it has a different name here. Example, Walkers = Lays, Fita = Ritz, Modess = Always. Well they probably just have similar packaging but what the heck! The important part is I have 18 packs (wait, make that 12 now because I just ate some) of Walkers on my bedside to feed my insatiable appetite. Oh no worries, moderation is key. I'm gradually coming to terms with their local delicacies here despite its blandness. But hey, food shouldn't be judged, it should be enjoyed.

the kids don't stand a chance

I sure cannot stand still. I'm trying to recall the scottish dances that our new friends taught us. They showed us how to do the ceilidh, canadian barn dance and the paddywack! The last one was my favorite and the easiest for that matter. Well, they taught us more but those were all the dances that I can actually pronounce. It was really nice of them to teach us all that without even breaking a sweat (I'm serious, I haven't broke into a sweat since I got here). Afterward, we had the food munchies and tasted all sorts of pies, chips, shortbreads and cheeses.

We were thinking of teaching them our own sort of national dances such as the tinikling or pandanggo sa ilaw but the problem would be where to get the props for it. Hmmm.

i was enchanted to meet you too

The cold weather is now bearable, notice how I don't wear a coat at 5 degrees. :D I'm either packing up some fats or my skin has embraced the chilly air.

On a different note, ever heard of those songs which are sung differently and in response by someone else? Take for example Taylor Swift's Enchanted to which Adam Young from Owl City sweetly replied. He sort of decoded it and thought the song might be addressed to him.

her royal disposition

We were one gate away from stepping our feet on royal property. The Queen's Residence at Hollyrood Park was a sight to behold when the majestic black gates on the other side looms at us like a giant does over his tiny prey. We were told that if one single scratch or damage ever comes to any of her properties that has the Queen's royal crown symbol on it, you will be imprisoned for life. Gosh, someone should have told us before  we were horsing around with the black gates. Whew!

PS. That is not my camera. I just happen to be the one taking the photos for people and I enjoyed it.

the vaguest of feelings

Don't mind me holding my bag like that. The strap actually broke while we were heading to the hills. I had to hold it like that the whole time.haha Good thing I got plan B a.k.a. another bag at the flat. I guess I won't be using that Coach one anymore. Silly of me for not thinking to buy a new bag during a car boot we just went to. I had my mind set on a military coat, leather jacket and Doc Marten shoes. I saw some shoes but they weren't the colors I wanted, I saw this coat but it wasn't military-esque and I nailed this red leather jacket. :D

I think scheduled posts are there for a reason. Only until now have I realized it's essence. I've been out of the wired world for days now. I'm not used to watching television anymore so internet is my only haven. I haven't scheduled any posts because I thought that wifi access would be up and running yesterday but it wasn't so here I am again in someone else's flat. Not being wired for days has taught me a valuable lesson: to clean up my room more. haha I've gone obsessive-compulsive with fixing up my room, arranging and re-arranging my stuff, making sure the bed is clean and then go berserk if someone else's coat is on the bed!

Oh the life of the un-wired.

ready to start

Photographed by Elys

My shoots with Elys would be missed. No more tshirt and shorts/pants combination because I'll be all wrapped up.

Currently at someone else's flat just so I could hog up some wifi. Everything seems so surreal now that I'm here. It's like I'm in a dream within a dream. (haha Inception). The only real thing that struck me that I wasn't home was the weather. That gush of wind slapped me like a slab of ice. I wasn't wearing my coat when I got out the Manchester Airport to ride the plane for Edinburgh which was really smart of me to do so.

I kind of expected snow when I arrived but I'm thankful there isn't any coz when we got to the flat I was still freezing. I had no idea about the heater so I was in constant fetal position until the all magical heater has functioned in our room.

We were at Princes Street yesterday scouring up some cheap stuff in stores. There was this one guy in a cow jumpsuit that made my day. In the sea of black coats, he brought out the funny. I can see castles from where we were standing but it's going to be a long walk to actually get there. Maybe soon, once I get used to the place.

punching in a dream

Photographed by Elys

I've been loading and unloading my luggage for hours now just so I won't go over the standards when I get to the airport. I don't want to have to pay for excessive baggage which is about $43. This means letting go of about 1/2 of my whole wardrobe but never my shoes. Haha Oh well, might as well let some clothes go. I consider this as a clean fashion slate.

These are another set of pre-dyed hair photos.

These are some photos that we took before I dyed my hair, so don't mind the blackness of it all. Funny how my friends and I were browsing through some Golden Globe photos and we shrieked for joy (more like giddy fangirls) when Andrew Garfield and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were looking so dapper in the red carpet.
