the folly of youth

Young memories rise up to the surface when we went to the Museum of Childhood. I was amused by the numerous toys, trinkets and baby stuff that are centuries old. It was rough for kids back then because they weren't allowed to smile in public, hair have to be covered and they had to work in coal mines or do chimney sweeps. Kids right now have things easy for them.

I can't help looking back on my own childhood. All of the things I've seen at the museum have been reminiscent of the old English films. The huge doll houses delighted me the most because I remembered just owning a Polly Pocket which is not even half the size of those doll houses. Notice the miniature dolls and their lovely furnitures up close.

I love the Museum of Childhood, we used to go all the time when I was a kid and the doll's houses were always my favourite too. I've been meaning to go back since I moved back to Edinburgh and you've inspired me to go soon. You have to tell your friends though that it's in SCOTLAND!
